Hourly slots and ad approval in your channel

How one-hour slots work in your Telegram channel, the maximum number of posts per slot and the optional approval of every single ad.

In short

Ads run only in the slots you switch on in the calendar: each slot lasts one hour, and at the end the bot removes the post. If you want to see every ad before it runs, turn on approval: you have 15 minutes to answer, then the ad expires and is not published.

What a slot is

A slot is one calendar hour in which your channel is available for an ad. In the channel calendar you choose the days and, for each, the hours in which you accept ads; the other hours stay free of advertising.

When the hour ends, the bot takes the post down from the channel. If the slot for the next hour is active, the system assigns the space again and the ad can be the same or a different one. Across a block of consecutive hours, then, the ad can change every hour.

How many posts per slot

In the channel settings you will find the “maximum number of posts per hourly slot”, from 1 to 6. It comes into play when the ad that is running is taken down before the hour ends, for example because the advertiser paused the campaign or used up its budget: the bot can publish another one in the same hour, up to the maximum you set.

Optional approval

By default ads run without your intervention. If you turn on the check (“Do you want to review posts before they are published?”), you give the numeric Telegram ID of whoever approves: yours or a collaborator's. From then on every ad reaches you in chat first, with two buttons: “Publish” and “Reject”.

  • With “Publish” the ad runs in the channel.
  • With “Reject” the ad does not run, and that campaign is not offered to you again on that channel.
  • If you do not answer within 15 minutes the ad expires: the message with the buttons is removed and the ad is not published.

How to choose the hours

Start from when your audience reads and from when you would rather keep the channel for your own posts. A news channel may leave free the hours when important information goes out; an entertainment channel may open up in the evening. You can change the calendar later from the channel page.

Ads are assigned among the campaigns compatible with the category and language of the channel, so the more hours you open, the more chances there are to publish. For the price, see the article on the minimum per click.

What the bot does in the channel besides handling slots is in another article; how clicks become earnings is in this guide.
